definitely, the best browser you can have. Much better than Opera, Netscape, even better than Internet Explorer 7.

smile.gif I really cannot say how great Firefox is, but in my experiences with IE 6.0, I must come to its defense, as I have discovered several ways to make it more invulnerable to hacker attack.

First, there is Microsoft Update. I download every single patch and fix they offer: To include the "Custom" ones. Microsoft generates many fixes for IE 6.0 that combine several software fixes into one file.

Second, if you have the wherewithal to utilize the features of IE, you can protect it yourself. I have an Online Subscription to McAfee (better than boxed), as well as a subscription to Prevx1 Pro Intrusion Prevention. The combined malware coverage with these two applications running in concert is almost 860,000. McAfee has an extensive Virus Information Library, and I use it constantly to find domain names and IPs to enter into IE as follows: (1) Internet Options - Security - Restricted Sites: You can enter both domain names and IPs here to stop IE from ever going to those websites. I presently have in excess of 15,000 domains blocked. (2) Internet Options - Privacy - Sites: Enter domain names here to permanently block cookies. (3) Download EarthLink's free Toolbar. It has ScamBlocker, which lists known and suspected Identity Theft websites, and stops IE from going to them, even if you type them in by accident. If you are already an EarthLink user, then you know that ScamBlocker is now able to scan emails to see if they are of a suspicious nature or from a suspicious IP.

Finally, what really bugs me is that people want to knock a certain application just because it is socially acceptable, or they flat just don't know how to use the features so they cover this by saying IE is bad. IE has BHOs, Active-X, Java, Microsoft .NET Framework and Toolbars just like everyone else. I don't know anything about Firefox, but I will not knock it down just because I happen to prefer IE. Too bad this cannot happen in the other direction.

Don't knock it til you have used it fully is good advice. You don't judge a car just by starting the motor.

Personally I prefer Firefox because it operates simply and clearly and I don't need to have Rocky's obvious expertise to keep safe.

As with life, your choice of browser, or motorcar, is very much a personal matter.
