Select multiple applications and uninstall them in one easy step

For this kind of maintenance your first step should be to use Windows' own Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel - but hang on a second. Unfortunately, as many of you will know, this particular tool doesn't always function as well as it should. Software uninstallers don't always meet expectations and in some cases applications fail to show up in the Add/Remove Programs list. This is where Advanced Uninstaller, on this month's cover disc, can help. It will identify all the applications installed on your PC and give you the opportunity to remove them safely. It will also flag up add-ons and software patches. If you compare all software listed under Advanced Uninstaller to the items displayed under Add/Remove Programs you'll notice a marked difference. There are quite a few items that Windows' own tool hasn't picked up but Advanced Uninstaller has. The latest version of Advanced Uninstaller PRO 2002 is packed with new tools, including a Start Menu cleaner and a start-up manager.

Get a little help uninstalling programs

This is predominantly a program uninstaller, but it does various other tasks that you may find useful. In terms of uninstalling programs, Advanced Uninstaller Pro displays a list of all existing program entries, detailing (where available) the program name, version, installation date and publisher. To uninstall a program, simply select it and hit the 'uninstall' button. Any entries for programs no longer on your PC can be removed from the list via an 'obsolete entries' button, and any Registry references are also removed. Advanced Uninstaller Pro can be used to remove entries from the Startup folder too. This will improve the speed at which your PC boots up. Entries can be disabled or permanently deleted. Other useful features are the ability to hide entries from the Start Menu should you so wish, and a handy function for removing dead shortcuts from the Start Menu and desktop. The program simply scans your PC and lists any dead shortcuts for you to confirm before deletion.
